02 Jun 11 How to Promote A Low-cost Airlines?

In this age when everybody is flying frequently to destined places, some airlines to attract the mass have labeled themselves as ‘low cost airline’, offering travel service at a much lower rate. However, there are thousands of low cost airlines, fighting hard for business. How to keep your airlines ahead of others and attract more customers? Here are some tips.

Don’t make it appear cheap

Many interested travelers may avoid your airline considering your service, ambience, and appearance, crowd as cheap and uncomfortable. Your first job is to make sure the word ‘cheap’ is not attached to your brand. An airline being affordable for its customers does not necessarily mean to be cheap and uncomfortable. Make sure it is just affordable, but not cheap. Make sure people feel at ease, feel special and well served like any good airline. Keep appearance and ambience of the airlines great, pleasing, posh, and nice. Keep pleasant looking air hosts and hostesses who are courteous, helpful. No one wants to travel in a cheap manner.

Serve more than they expect

Definitely, being a low cost airline you cannot afford to offer all frills and fancies of a full cost airline. But at the same time, serve more than the customers expect from you. This will keep your customers excited about your service, spreading good words about you everywhere. Surprise them with little more than others. Take an extra leap, go an extra mile to get more customers, keep customers happy and loyal to your brand. Being low cost, you may not provide food, but you may offer some water and fruit juices, coffee, chocolates and French fries unlike other airlines. It may cost you little more than others, but will give you an edge too. You may keep some wonderful travel magazines of the concerned destination. You may highlight some shopping tips.

Attractive offers

Since there are many low cost airlines these days, you should be different and remembered for some good reason. Offer some lucrative deals like heavy discount on early booking reserved for first 20 customers or lucky draw coupon for a free trip or gifts for a couple travelling together, free holiday guidebooks for a family of 4 members travelling together to a holiday destination.

Get set go. Fly with pride.

09 Jul 10 How Important is the Cover of Your Book?

Who says beauty lies in the eye of the beholder? Would you get attracted towards an ugly looking man without knowing he is a real genius within? Would you buy a pathetic necklace unless you know it’s a heritage necklace belonging to princess of the land? You won’t. Right? Definitely inner beauty, inner self is important; but it’s discovered only when the thing is explored and we explore things only when it looks nice and attractive apparently. That’s the strength of appearance. Similarly a book sells more when it looks nice, when its cover looks really interesting. We have often been told not to judge a book from its cover, but in reality it doesn’t work. Among a shelf of all unknown books we pick up the ones which allure us and grab our attention. The cover should be unusual, mysterious, timeless and memorable. It should evoke curiosity and interest to flip through the pages.

Book covers not only attract attention, but also build emotional attachment with the reader. People connect to it even after years and get nostalgic. That’s the power of book cover. It’s unlike a flashy poster, hoarding or road blocker.

In this age of computer graphics technology book cover ideation and creation has been treated as a daily practice, merely mixing and merging stock photographs, adding colors, highlighted by stylish font. They may look nice, but not memorable. But the art of book cover designing is much deep rooted. Very few publishers are still into it, brainstorming and creating unique and fresh book covers. There’s no rule of book cover designing. It just has to be arresting, innovative and memorable. It should echo the sentiment down the years. It may or may not even contain an image. It may be colorful or mono color. It may carry stylish or traditional conservative fonts. It has no set rules.

With a good book cover, you can definitely make the most of its sale. A well thought-out, classic book cover carries its glory down the ages, remains eternal in heart of people, echoing its grandeur.

04 Mar 10 A Job-Search Guide to Help People Over 45 – XVII

This is 17th post of the series written to help people over 45 secure jobs for them. We have come a long way. I hope by now you have gained enough confidence and rearing up to go. Some of you might have gone ahead and secured a job. This series is approaching its end now. It would be no more than 2 posts in this series. So, before it gets over, let us get together and pour everything on paper for you to see and use it.

Plan, Plan, and Plan

Planning is important. It takes the surprise factor and blind spot out of the equation. Review the list of common questions asked in an interview, and prepare an answer for each one of them. Do not mug up. Just make yourself comfortable with the questions. During the planning process also find a way out to blunt the ruthless edge of your negative characteristics. Do not make it look like your biggest asset, but soften its edge and make it look less damaging.

Look uber-cool

Well, I do not intend to suggest that you should take in all those garbage being consumed by teenagers in the name of fashion and “walking ahead of time”. All I want to suggest is to look up-to-date and in the know of things that matter to the job you are being interviewed for.

When I say up-to-date I also mean up-to-date in your appearance. I know it was not the first thing you expected to read when you wake up in the morning, but it important. You will not like to look like a black sheep among all the white clones. Dress as the way people younger to your dress, at least for the interview. It will convey the person on the other side of the table that you may be chronologically from different group, but your psychosocial make is same as his own.

Tell them you will learn

Do not flinch if you are faced with a question that you do not know answer of, or if you have asked about a technology which you have never heard of. Tell your interviewer that you are unaware of thing in question, but you will learn it sooner than expected, and if you are promised the job, you can start learning right from today. This will tell your interviewer, how much keen you are for the job, and how much time you are willing to devote for that. The interviewer will not pass unimpressed.

What else do you think is necessary to excel in an interview? Use the comment box and send in your suggestions.
