Meeting deadlines in such cases become a real challenge, but what is needed to be done should be done. There is no way out of it, unless you want to lose the client and his business forever.

In the times when your guests are at your home, you may need to exert yourself more, as you will work doubly — once to spend time with people you love and once to delight your customers with your impeccable work. We all face this kind of problem, and fortunately there is a way out of it. When I say a way out of it, I do not mean an easy way. Let me fist tell you about the ways out of it then you can decide to take it or leave it (this phrase sounds so filmy, isn’t it? Like the Godfather giving an unpleasant deal).

Work in the night

Once you have had all the laughs of the world, it is time to burn mid-night oil. This is kind of difficult, but you can manage it provided you do not end-up dining at mid-night. Stay awake for one or two hours in the night to finish the work.

Work Early morning

Waking up one hour early than usual could be tried. You can use this time to finish the works in due time. Early morning could be good, as your guests will not be waking so early, and nor will your kids and spouse.

Apart from these obvious times, you can also utilize the unplanned free time to complete the assignment. This way you will able to meet deadlines without sacrificing much on the fun your family and your guests are having. As I see, guests are not evil. They give you opportunity to break away from the monotonous life. Why not use it to the fullest? And to maintain pace of the work, do as suggested above.

B2B Marketing Challenge – A Comparative Study http://itlist.com/b2b-marketing-challenge-a-comparative-study/ http://itlist.com/b2b-marketing-challenge-a-comparative-study/#comments Sun, 31 Oct 2010 17:05:00 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/b2b-marketing-challenge-a-comparative-study/ A lot has changed between 2009 and 2010. Some of the changes are good and some of are not, which have made the life of B2B marketers slightly more difficult. In a study conducted by MarketingSherpa to unearth the challenges B2B marketers face in 2010, it found that despite all technological developments marketing has become tougher for a B2B marketer.

In 2009, only 69% of B2B marketers said that generating high quality lead was the toughest challenge for them, but in 2010 78% marketers said so. Similarly, generating high volume of leads was big challenge for 35% of marketers in 2009, and it threatens 44% marketers in 2010.

In the study it was found that 2010 has been more challenging year for B2B marketers on every front, with an exception. In 2009, 37% marketers said that generating perceived value in “cutting edge” product benefits is a challenge. It remained unchanged in 2010 as well. Rest posed more threat. See image for example.

What Freelance Writers Should Read? http://itlist.com/what-freelance-writers-should-read/ http://itlist.com/what-freelance-writers-should-read/#comments Sun, 07 Feb 2010 03:48:56 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/what-freelance-writers-should-read/ My love for short and intriguing answer is pushing me to say “read anything that you can lay your hand on to”, but, my slightly more normal self asks my crazy mind to explain. So, here goes the explanation.

A freelance writer should read anything that succeeds in catching, holding, and retaining his attention. Because the more diverse your reading habit will be the better equipped you will be to handle the challenges posed by freelance writing. You should care less about following a genre through head to tail. Well, doing it will be make you an expert and may be better accomplished as a writer of that particular genre, but expertise in one and dumbness in rest of the subjects is not what you should eye for. You need to have sufficient control on as many genres as possible.

What did you say— you will be master of one and will research for the rest?

I know many freelancers doing that, and quite a few have attained some degrees of success while treading down this road. But more often than not an article written by a freelance writer who has no prior knowledge or intuitive understanding of the subject matter lacks depth. To add depth and texture to your writing, you need to learn various things.

Freelance writing poses unique challenge that is seldom faced by fiction or non-fiction writers. Therefore, the solution used by freelance writers should also be different.

Read as much as you can, and from as many genres as you feel comfortable in!

Learning is a complex process, and acquiring knowledge is even more complex.  One never knows which piece of text or byte of media triggers what. Sometimes the knowledge gained is a direct result of the things you are reading, while at other times, it is gained because the things you are reading have activated some unknown part of the brain which has triggered something else then something else, and the end result of all this could be the new understanding you have developed.

So, to help your brain form new pattern and new understanding, you need to provide it as many types of fodders as possible.

But, the scene has changed. Now everyone has money, well not everyone, but many people have enough capital to start a business and make it survive for months or even years.

Then why they are not plunging in?

Because we are not living in the era where capital matters. What matters today to make a business successful is idea. A business requires a killer idea to become successful. In the paragraphs below, I will tell you how to find a killer business idea.

Find killer business idea in 3 easy steps

  • Step 1: Based on the ability you have, look for the industry that you can work. Alternatively, you can also look for a sector in which you will be more comfortable working. Find an industry in which you would love to work.
  • Step 2: Divide the industry in various sector and list major players in each sector. Also analyze, perceive, and observe the need gap. Ask consumers and retailers about what benefit they are seeking from their existing consumption which are not yet fulfilled. I am asking you to find a need gap.
  • Step 3: Find the alternative routes to fill the need gap. See how you can fulfill industry’s demand efficiently. You need to find a way to keep the price of the solution you are offering within industry’s expected price range.

Once you are through with this, make a business plan and execute it. The business plan should cover every aspect of a business. You need to ascertain the challenges as well as opportunity. Do a SWOT as well as PESTLE analysis. Do not forget to make a list of things you need to run the business.

Planning For A Career In Information Technology http://itlist.com/planning-for-a-career-in-information-technology/ http://itlist.com/planning-for-a-career-in-information-technology/#comments Tue, 29 Sep 2009 20:37:54 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1766 Properly planning a career in Information Technology is paramount to your success within the industry.  Knowing what you have to do, and coming up with the best way to carry out that plan, is absolutely necessary if you hope to build a successful career.  So first set out your list of goals that you hope to achieve, as that will help you better understand how you can achieve them.  Are you more concerned with money, job security, or job freedom?  All of which offer different challenges and rewards, and pretty much require different tactics, in terms of the education you will need.

Start out getting the certifications you will need in entry level IT opportunities.  Study and gather certificates in Cisco, Java, and Microsoft platform related applications.  This is a good thing to do while you are pursuing a degree from either a 4 year University, or a technical college.  This way you’re setting yourself up for the industry, while getting your education, better preparing yourself in a shorter amount of time.

As you are learning, make sure that you always keep track of IT related news and trends.  The industry is in a constant flux of new ideas and constant change, keeping up on that is very  important.  Only by staying current can you make yourself into an asset at any job you’d like to get in the future.  So keeping your skills and knowledge up to date is invaluable.

Look for a few trade groups that you can join, during your education and beyond, so that you can network within the industry.  Networking is a vital component of any industry, but especially for one that is constantly changing like the IT field.  Getting connected with people already in the industry will help you find entry level positions when you’re out of school.  Not to mention connecting with those that have established themselves helps you learn what’s necessary to succeed in the end.

Finally, make the most of every opportunity.  Take advantage of the first job you get straight out of school, and work hard and apply that knowledge you have in every way.  You first opportunity can make or break you, so take full advantage.

Virtual classrooms as a model for knowledge management http://itlist.com/virtual-classrooms-as-a-model-for-knowledge-management/ http://itlist.com/virtual-classrooms-as-a-model-for-knowledge-management/#comments Tue, 30 Dec 2008 18:52:06 +0000 GoniG http://itlist.com/?p=76 Introduction

Education today is facing many challenges and one of them is to respond to the profound social changes, economic and cultural rights as provided for the so-called “Information Society and Knowledge” in this era of Information and Communication, and the Internet which has generated a huge interest in all areas of our society and its thanks to its growing use for educational purposes has become an open field for reflection and research.

Knowing that the “virtual classrooms” are half in which teachers and learners are to carry out activities that lead to learning, and that the concept of knowledge is the ability to transform data and information into effective action and effective, in the next lecture discuss the topic of “Virtual Room as a Model of Knowledge Management ‘, and try some of these concepts: influential factors, classification, usage and other items that have some connection with such innovative topic.

Concept of Virtual Classroom

The world in which we live is identified with the dynamics, where what is true today, perhaps tomorrow does not have the same value, being the only constant change it. For that reason, educators and learners, we have been waiting for the arrival of new forms of education and tools to achieve efficiency and effectiveness, implementation, in some cases and innovation in others, the process of finding a means of bringing the Internet to the public officer new features and elements that provide access to knowledge without the involvement or have moved nourished budgets to purchase materials and make available to everyone. It is known that most Internet through Web pages on the classroom resources that before were not even imaginable to a low-cost and easy access. Is that this source of inexhaustible facilities has been embraced by a large number of teachers from different systems and levels of education. Thus, this has led to the birth of sites and web sites designed for teaching and the idea of doing an educational use of the Internet. These spaces are what some experts have called “virtual classrooms”.

Modern organizations need to update the resource materials, and most importantly, the human capacity to give timely and effective response to new challenges proposed by the “Information Society and Knowledge.” The concept of virtual classrooms has come to fill the gap that for many years has had a traditional education, as educational need in this society has been in the technological changes of great magnitude, in which an increasing number of people from all socio-economic levels who need training in order to keep pace with the changes around us, without necessarily having to adapt to traditional training that are not commensurate with their daily lives.

Knowledge and Management of the same

We understand the importance of knowledge as each of the sensory faculties of man.

The management of knowledge some experts define it as a way to identify, detect, rework, and make available to the entire organization knowledge and practices that bring added value to the members of any entity. Joyanes, (2003) also said that the management of knowledge means to deliver those data and information needed to be efficient (effective) in their work or organizations, which is the organizational and institutional process which technologies should allow:

* Identify necessary knowledge,
* Identify where and who has the knowledge or if you need to be created,
* Collect and capture the knowledge identified,
* Determine its importance,
* Summarize and synthesize the information available,
* Distributing information at different levels,
* Update, delete and modify the outdated knowledge and
* Save and organize knowledge obsolete, if any, for future reference.
