Web design may give a good feel about the website and draw attention in the beginning, but if it lacks good content people will leave it immediately and won’t refer to it again in future. Web content writing is very important task to captivate visitors in a website, since poor content takes only few minutes to make the visitor bid adieu forever. Don’t forget even one single line of trash write up can spoil a reader’s mood. Be very careful while crafting web content. Here are few simple tips for your help.

Keep it simple and relevant

Simplicity is the key to success of web writing. Unless your message is well comprehended by all, the whole purpose of writing will go in vain. Keep it simple yet strong, crisp yet impactful, creative yet relevant. No one is interested in reading pages after pages, so keep it short but powerful, including all important things you wish to communicate to your visitor. You can’t beat around the bushes and for the sake of creativity commit the mistake of losing focus. Stick to your topic, stay relevant.

It should be informative

Often web contents are seen repetitive, vague, and lacking concrete substance. But if a website is not informative, doesn’t convey anything meaningful even a good style of writing can go wasted. So, know what all to be included, what are the important points and include them all. Don’t beat around the bushes.

Make it tightly knit and avoid disconnection

Structure your write up properly, in a smooth flow moving from one thought to another. One sentence should be well connected to the next, but shouldn’t convey the same thing. A well-knit writing with a smooth flow will make reading pleasurable and beneficial for the reader. There shouldn’t be any disconnection. Many writers often use too many conjunctions to make the write up well-knit. But conjunctions show writer’s weakness. Instead, you may change paragraphs to convey different things.

Next time keep these few simple tips in mind while writing web content. It will be easier for you to craft captivating and effective web content.

A taste bud seducing caramel pudding is a much awaited delicacy of summer. So, just gear up to learn the simplest way of caramel pudding preparation. Just few minutes in hand could fetch in the terrific caramel pudding ever.

All you need for the caramel pudding preparation are –

  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • Dry fruits and nuts or fruit slices (optional)

Make sure you have all these ingredients with you, before you start with the preparation. Now gear up for the most exciting session of caramel pudding preparation. It’s indeed very simple, interesting and fun.

Take a mixing bowl. Pour milk and 8 table spoons of sugar in it. Put eggs. Start stirring it until the sugar dissolves completely into liquid.

You can prepare pudding either in one big bowl or into small pudding metal cups. Depending upon your choice of individual small cups or one large pie select the container. Fill bottom of the big bowl or small cups (selected as per your preference) with remaining sugar amount and place it on the stove. Let the sugar melt until it turns into brownish caramel. Remove it from the stove and allow it to cool down in normal room temperature.

Next, fill the bowl or cups with the pre-prepared mixture and place it in a larger vessel or deep pan, which should be filled with an inch of water at the bottom.

Now place the vessel in preheated oven (350 degrees F) for about half an hour till it turns brownish and a golden crust is formed on the top.

It’s time to remove it from the oven. Take a blunt knife to separate the pudding’s corners adhering to the sides of the bowl or cups. Cover the bowl or cups with a large plate or small plates respectively and flip to release the pudding on the plate.

Before serving you can garnish the pudding’s top with your favorite range of dry fruits and nuts. You can try slices of fruits too.

See, your hard work paid off. It’s time to just sit back and relish. Enjoy!

Avoid Being Burnt Out By Your Job http://itlist.com/avoid-being-burnt-out-by-your-job/ http://itlist.com/avoid-being-burnt-out-by-your-job/#comments Fri, 22 Jan 2010 23:39:24 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=2230 Getting jaded by your job is no good.  Makes you hate your job, and makes the work you have to slog through all the more difficult.  In a recession, where finding a new job is extremely difficult, you can’t really afford feeling burnt out at your job.  Managing your work, and environment is key to staying happy, and productive at your job.

Plan and prioritize your projects so that you don’t feel overwhelmed by having too many things to do at the last minute.  Figure out what you need to complete now, so that you can push a few things off until later.  By creating a schedule ladder of importance, you can focus on the tasks and complete them with plenty of time.  Taking the stress off, allowing you to relax a bit, and keeping you happy as well as productive.

Remember to take your breaks.  Even if you have a ton of work, and you want to skip a break to work through it, don’t!  Skipping your breaks will only make you feel more disheartened and overwhelmed.  Take that break so you can get some fresh air, maybe a cup of coffee, and relax for a few minutes.  You’ll feel better, and will work more effectively when you resume your duties.

Know when to ask for help.  Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s just finding a solution to a problem that you can’t solve yourself at the moment.  What’s worse that having to ask for help, is not getting your work done because you didn’t.  Failing on your own instead of succeeding with help should never sound like the better option.

Always stay polite and courteous no matter what.  Keeping in a positive mind with a positive attitude is the best way to work through the problematic times.  By staying positive you’ll feel better, as will the people around you.  You’ll all get more done, and you’ll be much less apt to get overwhelmed, or feel unhappy at your job.

Bounce Back From Interview Tardiness http://itlist.com/bounce-back-from-interview-tardiness/ http://itlist.com/bounce-back-from-interview-tardiness/#comments Fri, 13 Nov 2009 19:21:04 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1975 Being late to an interview is horrible, but not necessarily a job death sentence.  While this is most definitely not the best first impression you can make, you can still save face.  Sometimes there’s an emergency that is completely out of your hands.  Or even traffic mishaps that you can’t control.

Although the best way to save yourself from being tardy to an interview, is to make sure you’re not late in the first place.  That means mapping out your route beforehand.  Know the territory, and leave a few minutes earlier than needed.

If you cannot avoid being late, then always call ahead immediately to notify your interviewer of the situation.  You have a cell phone for a reason.  If there’s bad unexpected traffic, or an accident, call them immediately to let them know you’ll be late.  Explain the reason, apologize, and tell the interviewer that you’ll be there as quickly as possible.

When you arrive, don’t rush into the office.  Stay calm and composed.  Turn this into an opportunity to show your grace under pressure.  Being late to an interview could be considered a huge lapse in credibility.  But you can spin that by keeping your posture confident, and your demeanor positive and courteous.

By rushing in you show nervousness, which is essentially weakness.  If you crack under the stress of getting to an interview on time, are they going to want you during a real work crises?  Show that you can stay composed and confident in any scenario.

A good tactic actually is to rush as quickly as possible to the interview, then take a few moments before you enter the building to compose yourself.  The key here is staying calm, if you can’t stay calm you’re not going to make a good impression.  You’ve already got the tardiness strike against you, so your interview has to be stellar.

Survive Working Long Hours http://itlist.com/survive-working-long-hours/ http://itlist.com/survive-working-long-hours/#comments Thu, 15 Oct 2009 21:37:50 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1847 Working long hours day in and day out is exhausting, that’s a fact.  How you cope with that workload can be the difference between success and failure, and your ability to keep your “sanity” at your job.  As stress effects everyone differently, being as adaptable as possible is key to avoiding undue stress.  And while stress is to be expected when working long days, and many hours, it doesn’t have to be a test in how much punishment you can receive.

Don’t fall into the bad eating pitfalls that can occur when working long hours at your job.  Many people turn to drugs like caffeine, or just bad eating habits in general, such as opting for fast food instead of something nutritious.  This is the first step to failing at your ability to perform well when working long days.  Caffeine leads to crashing, which is what you do not want after you’ve already been working a typically long day, and need to dig deep to keep going.  That’s the same effect eating fast food instead of nutritious food will have.

Eating healthy is key to surviving those shifts, so take the time to keep your fruit and vegetable intake high.  That will make all the difference, and drinking water instead of caffeine, coupled with good nutritional habits will provide for all the energy you would need.

If you happen to be working more to complete a big project, or to achieve a big bonus for your paycheck, keep both of these goals in mind.  When you’re feeling down, or just dragged around from the length of your shift, remember your reasons.  Think about your goals, the project you want done, or the money you want to make, and that should help you push on through.

Finally, find a good relaxation technique, and take some time for yourself for that activity.  Whether it be listening to some calming music for a few minutes, taking a break, etc.  Make time for that relaxation, as it will influence everything you do.  The more you can get rid of some stress when you’re feeling stressed, the better you’ll perform, and you’ll feel better too.

Stand Out At A Meeting http://itlist.com/stand-out-at-a-meeting/ http://itlist.com/stand-out-at-a-meeting/#comments Thu, 03 Sep 2009 22:08:02 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1632 Meetings are a fantastic opportunity to make yourself shine at your job.  They serve as your chance to show your ability in front of people that might otherwise be unaware of your potential.  Usually it’s only your direct boss that gets a real feel for what you can achieve.  But at a meeting, most times you have a chance to make yourself known to the people higher up on the ladder.  So clearly, thinking of a meeting that way, each one is a vital chance to make a name for yourself at your company.  Here are a few tips to help you do just that:

1. Research, research, research.  Make sure you know the in’s and out’s of every single detail of the meeting.  Make yourself an expert, so that if you have visual aides during a presentation, you know all of them without having to look.  Or if there are packets of statistics to be used during discussion, make sure you know the important stuff like the back of your hand.  Knowledge is key to presenting yourself as a valuable, informed employee.

2. Participate in the meeting by offering useful information or helpful suggestions.  Don’t try to take control of the meeting, as the idea is to get yourself noticed in a good way.  Coming off as a control freak is not your aim at all.  So just offer positive insight whenever the situation presents itself.  But don’t try to force yourself into every open dialogue.

3. Show up a few minutes early to the meeting.  This shows preparedness every time.  Nothing makes you look worse to the big wigs than showing up to a meeting involving them late.

4. Follow up on anything that you promised during the meeting immediately.  If you said you’d deliver a report after the meeting, make sure that it’s the first thing you do afterward.  Nothing makes you look worse than when you promise something and don’t come through.  Always keep your promises, especially when they were made in front of a room full of people.

Constantly Creating New Ideas And Topics http://itlist.com/constantly-creating-new-ideas-and-topics/ http://itlist.com/constantly-creating-new-ideas-and-topics/#comments Sat, 27 Jun 2009 02:08:14 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1421 When your profession falls into writing, no matter what sort of writing it is that you do, the demand for coming up with new ideas is always very, very high.  Therein lay the problem of keeping up on that demand with new relevant ideas to write about.  Which is why you need to make sure you’re well aware of the many tactics writers use to help them come up with new ideas constantly.  Just remember, this is a skill that will take a lot of practice to really maintain properly, but keep at it and you’ll find yourself having more new ideas that you’ll ever know what to do with.

One of the most common methods, and one that you should most definitely be employing already, is to keep an idea notepad with you at all times.  Not necessarily an actual pen and paper mini notebook, but something to function as such.  If you have a smart phone, like an iPhone or Blackberry, you can use their note taking features to quickly jot down anything that pops into your head.  This keeps you ahead of the game with a wealth of ideas that you can look to later, when you find yourself in need.

Read.  Can’t stress that one enough.  The more you put your energy towards learning new things, or reading new ideas, whether through books or magazines or online articles, the more information you’re taking in that you can call upon at a later date.  Extraordinarily useful when coming up with a new topic to write about.

Find a friend or colleague to bounce a few ideas off.  Let them know about the concept and tell them some things you were considering, or ways you want to approach writing about the idea.  The input they have could help you guide yourself into a brilliant new direction you couldn’t have thought of on your own.

If you find yourself struggling to think of anything while sitting at your desk, take a break.  Go outside for a few minutes, get some fresh air and clear your head.  You’ll find yourself feeling much more refreshed, and after wicking away the fatigue, you’ll be in a much better place to re-energize your thinking.

Finally, as a last resort, twist around another idea you’ve already read about or heard about.  If you can’t find an idea all to your own, borrow someone else’s.  Don’t just rehash an article or book that you’ve read before of course.  But take what you learned there, or the basic concept, and apply it to your own outlook, and your own unique writing voice to manufacture an entirely new piece of work.
