The novelty factor associated with reading “free content” has long been overspent. People now get free content delivered to their mails in tons. Even the use of keywords in all types of tags has long passed its “use by date” mark.

In 2011, SEO and writing is going to change big time as the rules of SEO game has changed and so has the readers’ mindset. People have stopped paying attention to copy that looks crappy, as lot of bad content has been littered on the Internet.

Not just the search engines, but users even are a lot more conscious of the value your content adds to his or her life, and after the introduction of snapshot feature in Google SERP, it has become more difficult for badly written content to make its way to the customers’ computer. Even when it gets a chance to get there, they are quickly thrown out.

So how to make a content interesting both for people and machine?

To make your content interesting for your readers you need to do the following:

  • Use the language that your visitors converse in.
  • Provide them the value they are looking for.
  • Do not just write anything. Do a research before delving into the actual writing process.
  • Read blog comments, forum posts, and watch YouTube videos to see what your customers are getting and what their requirements are.

Following the handful of tips given above will take your writing business to all new height, but how to make the same content accessible for machines (search engine bots).

If you are new to the field then the fact that you have to write content for machines as well may make you cringe, but this is what we all have been doing since always in the name of SEO content. We have been working to satisfy the needs of machine, so that it could display our websites when visitors come searching information on the topic we are writing.

To make your content standout with machines you need to do the following:

  • Do not write for the machine. Even it does not want anything to be written exclusively for it.
  • Place important keywords and other related terms at appropriate places.
  • Do not go overboard with optimization.
  • Write with audience in mind and SEO should be the secondary thought.

Content written for the two groups that we talked about above should not be mutually exclusive. You need to write content that meets the needs of both of them. This is not very difficult, all you need to do is practice.

3 Steps to Add Your Favorite Application Tab in Facebook http://itlist.com/3-steps-to-add-your-favorite-application-tab-in-facebook-2/ http://itlist.com/3-steps-to-add-your-favorite-application-tab-in-facebook-2/#comments Sun, 19 Sep 2010 14:56:00 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/3-steps-to-add-your-favorite-application-tab-in-facebook-2/ You must have noticed a significant change that Facebook has made to your profile page. Well, this change is not so significant, if you have not been using the box feature. But for those who was addicted to show their creation to the world using box, Facebook’s application tabs has brought a news of doom.

Facebook has replaced box with application tabs, which could be a good or a bad news depending upon from where you are looking at it. My objective is not to prove one group right and another wrong, but it is to suggest you ways to apply this new feature.

3 steps to add application tabs

Step 1: Click on the profile page link and wait for the profile page to appear.

Step 2: Go to the area where wall, info, and photos are written. At the end of this line, you will find a + sign, click on that.

Step 3: In a drop-down menu you will see a series of application avaialble for you. Below that you wil find a box beneath “search application tabs”. Enter the keywords of the application tabs you want to use.

How-to-add-tab

That’s it. You have added your favorite application in facebook’s application tabs.

This feature will transform Facebook into a mega pplication which will host almost all the inforamtion that you routinly seek from the web. It will become your RSS reader twitter feed agregator, blog reader, etc.

But, at presnet the choice is quite limited, so there is nothing much that you can do with it. Still, there is no harm is testing this feature.

Improve Your Website’s Google Ranking http://itlist.com/improve-your-websites-google-ranking/ http://itlist.com/improve-your-websites-google-ranking/#comments Wed, 09 Dec 2009 22:22:35 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=2077 Getting more traffic to your website means improving your site’s Google ranking.  If you don’t rank well with Google, chances are your site is going to be buried behind thousands of others that have higher rankings.  The only way to get your ranking higher, is to play by the rules, and satisfy all of Google’s requirements to the best of your ability.  Here are a few ways you can do just that.

One of the key factors in how Google ranks a website, is how many other websites link back to your site.  That means networking.  Networking is an long established tool to build website traffic.  The more websites you find that are similar to yours, that are willing to exchange links, the higher your traffic is going to become.  Google ranks how well you are networked, and rewards those who network effectively.

The IP addresses of websites linking back to yours also has an effect on Google’s ranking system.  The more different IP’s that link to you, the better.  Multiple links from the same IP aren’t really factored in, as they could be considered duplicates, or falsified links.

Keyword density is also of high importance.  You want to use as many keywords as possible, without letting the quality of your content suffer.  The more keywords you have that relate to common searches, the higher Google is going to rank you.  As long as your content applies to what searchers type when searching, the more Google is going to be partial to ranking your site highly.

Make sure that you properly format your page titles to incorporate keywords.  Google puts a huge importance on what sort of keywords are in your title.  So make sure you use the important keywords that are specific to the topics you are touching upon.  Don’t be too generalized, and use specific terms that relate to your website, and what readers would be searching for.

Use Your Keywords Correctly http://itlist.com/use-your-keywords-correctly/ http://itlist.com/use-your-keywords-correctly/#comments Fri, 19 Jun 2009 19:14:29 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1408 When you write absolutely anything online that you expect to garner attention from web surfers needs to properly make use of inserting keywords.  Otherwise you’re basically wasting your time on blog, articles, etc, that nobody will ever read.  Keywords are the language of search engines, and you want to use them effectively throughout everything you write, so that your site will rank higher on the major search engines.  The higher you rank, the more likely your work is to pop up for anybody randomly searching for content relating to yours.

Although as important as good, fluid keyword placement is, nothing is more valuable than realizing the importance of every word you write, not just the ones intended to trigger search results.  All the keywords in the world aren’t going to make bad writing interesting enough to captivate a steadily large audience.  So never undervalue the importance of quality writing, because that’s what keeps the people coming back after they’ve found you on a search engine.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone using a search engine to find the kind of content you are going to provide through your writing.  Think of the words they would enter into a search bar.  You want to use words and phrases like these relating to your topic, fairly frequently throughout the piece, but not so often that the quality of what you’re writing suffers.  Your content should be clearly discernable and comfortable for the average person to read, but you want to stuff those keywords in as often as possible without compromising that quality.  It’s also worthy to note that you’ll have the most effectiveness on search engines by frequently using your keywords at the top and bottom of a page.

Also, don’t undervalue your title line.  This is the first big draw of any page, and the first piece of information that a search engine takes into consideration, so all of the most important keywords you are using should appear in the title.  Form a relevant, concise title, informative but also quick and to the point, so as to grab the most attention as quickly as possible.
