The US search market share of Bing has grown to 13.6% from 9%, which is a delta increase of 4.6%, and a relative increase of 51%.

In search business, Google, which is nobody’s guess, is a market leader in the United States. Google has 64.2% market share. At number two is yahoo with a 14.3% market share. Bing, despite its growth, is on number 3 with 13.6% market share. At number four and five slots are Ask.com and AOL search with 2.1% and 1.9% market share, respectively.

In terms of YoY growth, AOL search is the biggest loser. It has lost 38% market share. At number 2 is Yahoo Search which is slimmer by 17%. Google too shed some pound, but it is mere 1%. Two search companies to gain weight are Bing (51% YoY growth), and Ask.com Search (24% YoY growth). See image for detail.

Writing for Web – Where to Get Ideas From http://itlist.com/writing-for-web-where-to-get-ideas-from/ http://itlist.com/writing-for-web-where-to-get-ideas-from/#comments Fri, 23 Jul 2010 17:31:00 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/writing-for-web-where-to-get-ideas-from/ This is a classic. Often web writers feel this pang, and interestingly enough, they do not know how to soothe this pain of having no topic to write on. Some people make their way around this problem of “having no idea” by calling it writer’s block.

Whatever we may call this, but the fact remains the same. You cannot write, as you have no idea. And because of that you keep on staring at the plain white sheet of your word processor. Fortunately, there is bright source of light at the end of proverbial tunnel. There are ways to get ideas for not just one but 100s of future posts. In this article, I will show you some of the idea sources that you can use to generate blog posts, months after months.

Forums

A forum is a place where people interact in a real time. A place where people ask questions, discuss about issues that bother them, and people, on the other side, try to solve the problem. You can pick a topic from here for your next blog post. This has two benefits: (1) You find the topic that people are willing to read about, and (2) through your blog post you may solve the problem, which will place you as an authority in your niche.

Answer websites

Websites like yahoo Answer, Answer bag, etc. are nice place to get ideas for your blog post. Dig through the topics, and sub topics until you find the issue you know something about. Craft a blog post and suggest the solution to the problem.

Blog comments

This is another place to find ideas for your posts. People write many things in comments, and at times they ask questions even. Some of the questions asked there are important enough to warrant a blog post. Pick a question and write a blog post on the same. To promote the blog post, you can piggyback on the original blog post. Just post a reply on the blog post and paste the link of your blog post in the body. Do not forget to attract attention of the original commenter.

The blog post ideas that you generate from the above sources are potent ones, as each of the blog post solve a problem that some readers in your niche are jostling with. And an insightful post on the ideas drawn from the above sources will also give you the status of authority in your niche.

Yahoo is Not Yahooing and Bing is Not Binging, Everyone is Busy Googling http://itlist.com/yahoo-is-not-yahooing-and-bing-is-not-binging-everyone-is-busy-googling/ http://itlist.com/yahoo-is-not-yahooing-and-bing-is-not-binging-everyone-is-busy-googling/#comments Mon, 14 Dec 2009 03:20:14 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/?p=2089 Unaffected by all the hoopla of the searcher will go to Bing and the web is now you (Yahoo campaign), people are busy Googling the web. In a recent study conducted by market research company Experian Hitwise, Yahoo and Bing has lost 7% in market share in the month of November, whereas, Google has gained 1% of the search market share in the same period.

Microsoft’s hope to revive its MSN search is falling apart, and so is the Yahoo’s struggle to make the web user-centric. Perhaps they are too late or perhaps Google is playing every card right. To revive MSN search and make it look like Bing, Microsoft has acquired a small California-based start-up to roll out  Bing, but it does not seem to be working out well.

71.6% of the total US searchers still usage Google to search the World Wide Web, whereas, around 15% people use Yahoo, and around 9% people use Bing.

Why Do You Need to Write Quality Content http://itlist.com/why-do-you-need-to-write-quality-content/ http://itlist.com/why-do-you-need-to-write-quality-content/#comments Fri, 11 Dec 2009 06:25:35 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/?p=2079 Every day I consume a lots of web content and written words forms a major part of it. I have seen a lot many good contents on the Internet, and I have also seen a lot many mediocre contents. Where the exciting content provides fuel to my intellect, the mediocre contents keep me wondering, why I have wasted my time.

Like me, millions of readers out there convulse at the sight of poorly written web content. No one likes bad content, no matter where your visitors are coming from. This is one thing that could be blamed for the increase bounce rate from the website. You may lure visitors to your website by applying the best SEO techniques or by buying the coolest keyword in the SERP, but you cannot retain your visitors if you do not have quality content.

Attracting visitors is one thing, and retaining them and making them come back again and again to your website is entirely different thing. You may use short-cuts like buying keywords in Google, Yahoo, Bing, or whatever, and even you can bypass the SEO security measure to use black hat techniques. But there is not any short cut to bypass the need of quality content.

Why you need quality content

  • Well-written high quality content help you interact with your target audience at equal level, which in turn builds trust.
  • A well-written product review can be persuasive.
  • Good content gives the reader a reason to talk to you.
  • It builds excitement, hope, and makes the reader think.
  • It gives them the reason to keep coming back to read more.
  • It helps you sale more.

These are the benefits that were at the top of my mind. I am sure, you also have a lot more benefits to add. Let’s discuss the issue here.

Use Your Keywords Correctly http://itlist.com/use-your-keywords-correctly/ http://itlist.com/use-your-keywords-correctly/#comments Fri, 19 Jun 2009 19:14:29 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1408 When you write absolutely anything online that you expect to garner attention from web surfers needs to properly make use of inserting keywords.  Otherwise you’re basically wasting your time on blog, articles, etc, that nobody will ever read.  Keywords are the language of search engines, and you want to use them effectively throughout everything you write, so that your site will rank higher on the major search engines.  The higher you rank, the more likely your work is to pop up for anybody randomly searching for content relating to yours.

Although as important as good, fluid keyword placement is, nothing is more valuable than realizing the importance of every word you write, not just the ones intended to trigger search results.  All the keywords in the world aren’t going to make bad writing interesting enough to captivate a steadily large audience.  So never undervalue the importance of quality writing, because that’s what keeps the people coming back after they’ve found you on a search engine.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone using a search engine to find the kind of content you are going to provide through your writing.  Think of the words they would enter into a search bar.  You want to use words and phrases like these relating to your topic, fairly frequently throughout the piece, but not so often that the quality of what you’re writing suffers.  Your content should be clearly discernable and comfortable for the average person to read, but you want to stuff those keywords in as often as possible without compromising that quality.  It’s also worthy to note that you’ll have the most effectiveness on search engines by frequently using your keywords at the top and bottom of a page.

Also, don’t undervalue your title line.  This is the first big draw of any page, and the first piece of information that a search engine takes into consideration, so all of the most important keywords you are using should appear in the title.  Form a relevant, concise title, informative but also quick and to the point, so as to grab the most attention as quickly as possible.
