Then work towards achieving your goal. Set small goals before reaching the final one. With sheer dedication and passion work towards the goal, it will also boost your confidence and self esteem.

Meditate everyday

Sit alone quietly and meditate every day, it will help you to talk to your inner self. Don’t think about anything while meditating, you can chant too. Listen to your inner voice.

Know what you are good at

Knowing your strengths will help you to enhance them and utilize. Honor your strengths and enhance them.

Help others

Serve the society, it will not only help you to evolve as a better human but also soothe you from within. Help others as per your own capacity. In this way you will be more humble, honest, helpful and loved by all. Tomorrow others may help you back.

Is Writing Really Fun? http://itlist.com/is-writing-really-fun/ http://itlist.com/is-writing-really-fun/#comments Fri, 19 Mar 2010 03:31:04 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/is-writing-really-fun/ No. It is not.

Writing is hard work. Go and ask anyone who is in the business for long and he or she will tell you what a drag this is. As they say it, “The worst part of writing career is to sit still on your desk and write.”

Writing never comes easy, no matter at what stage you are into your writing career. It will never come easy. It takes time, effort, and pushing from your side. Do not assume that someone just sits on the desk and starts stroking keys and articles or books or reports or whatever starts forming itself. It never happens this way. To draw an analogy, let me tell you that writing is akin to polishing gold necklace—it required time, determination, precision, attention to details, and ability to continue even when your mind is saying “F” Word out loud.

I have been long enough in this field to realize this. Initially, I was delusional. I thought it will come easy to me as I am into this since I was a kid is class 3rd. But, as I wrote I was delusional.

Should you take up writing?

Indeed, you should. If writing is tough then what is not? Nothing is easy. You will have to exert yourself in everything that you do. But there is one thing about writing that none of the profession shares, at least not in the essence that writing does.

Writing creates a world, where you are in control of what each of your words will do. But, still your readers are in control. As it is upon them to make whatever sense they want from the writing. Writing is a game being played between the minds of the writer, readers and everything that falls in between.

This indeed makes writing fun.

Yes. Writing is fun. In the truest sense of the word, not in the sense that mean no work all play.

5 More Ways to Improve Your Writing Part-VIII http://itlist.com/5-more-ways-to-improve-your-writing-part-viii/ http://itlist.com/5-more-ways-to-improve-your-writing-part-viii/#comments Mon, 28 Sep 2009 21:12:51 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/?p=1760 The actual process of writing is indeed a lonely undertaking, but many things happen before you sit and start writing, and these many things shape your writing, therefore going out is as important as is sitting alone to write. In this part of the 5 Ways to Improve Your Writing series, I will talk about the benefits of socializing.

Writing group

Join a writing group in your neighborhood. Make sure it is not very far because distance works as a deterrent for many new writers. If you could not find a writing group in your neighborhood, form one.

Book reading club

Become a member of a book reading club. This will help you refine your existing ideas, and it will also help you get new ideas. Reading is the best advice that can be given to a writer. A writer who does not read cannot produce a good quality work for long. If there is not any book reading club in your neighborhood then form one.

Socialize with writers

Talking to fellow writers will help you unearth many hidden issues, and it will also help you find answers of many unasked questions as well. A practicing writer can become a better guide in telling you how to write, how to use different writing tools, and how to keep your writing simple yet powerful.

Meet someone who is not like you

Meeting a person who is not like you, and who has different point of view, desires, values, etc., will give you a good understanding in human nature. Meet a person of such standing and reflect on the experience you have by meeting him, and the experiences he or she shared with you.

Leave your couch

This is important. Your couch has become your comfort zone, or is it your chair that has become your comfort zone? Challenge yourself and break free. I am asking you to leave your comfort zone, and try meeting new people, and experiencing new things. The more experience you will bag, the better accomplished writer you will become.

Why to Build a Home Office http://itlist.com/why-to-build-a-home-office/ http://itlist.com/why-to-build-a-home-office/#comments Sat, 25 Jul 2009 22:42:06 +0000 bikram http://itlist.com/?p=1512 There was a time when freelancing was not as easy as it is now, and the amount of work available for freelancers were also not much in comparison to the amount of works available today. The Internet played the role of a catalyst, and everything (read most of the tings) that could be digitalized are digitalized now. These two things played very important roles in the information and crowd sourcing revolution.

The army for freelance professionals or freelance entrepreneurs is growing, and with it is emerging the issues related to freelancing. One very important issue is of having a fixed time and place to work in. Most of the people started freelancing in order to use their talent or skills to get out of 9-5 rat race, and indeed they have succeeded in doing so. They have broken the time-shackle and with it they have broken the space-shackle as well. Now, they do not have a fix place to work in. Is it good? Not necessarily!

Not having a fix time and place to work means, you can work anywhere and anytime, but in reality it turns out to mean not working at anyplace and anytime. In the absence of one designated place to work in, we end up working nowhere. That is not our fault that is how we are wired to behave.

In order to be more efficient or to work properly, we need to have a proper place to sit and work. If you have a designated place and time to sit and work then long before you take your first step towards that designated place, your unconscious mind starts preparing your body for the task. This priming doesn’t happen in the absence of a designated place and time to work in.

As you have left your day job, you must not have any office to go to. In this situation, you need to make a small home office in any corner of your house where you can go to work. Your office is not supposed to host a big cabin like the one your boss had in your office, you just need a small space where you can put everything that you need to do your work.

What do you think, is a small home office is a must for every freelancer? Use the comment box to share your view on this.

Increase Your Productivity http://itlist.com/increase-your-productivity/ http://itlist.com/increase-your-productivity/#comments Sat, 27 Jun 2009 16:38:28 +0000 SamElli http://itlist.com/?p=1426 During the daily grind it’s very easy to fall off the wagon and have a day where you don’t feel as though you were quite as productive as you should have been.  Some days you may just feel everything has gotten too monotonous and are forced to sit at your desk and zone out because of the fact.  Or you may just be having an off day, as everyone does at some point, and usually more than just the one time. But there are plenty of things you can do to increase your productivity, day by day, and help yourself fight off your urges to be anything less than productive.

Clean up your desk, as a first option.  Keep your workstation clean and neat looking, as that will always improve your mood and increase the likelihood that you will feel better, and feeling better means productivity.  A clean work station is a happy workstation after all.

Organize that desktop, it’s not enough for your station to just be clean, but you should have everything well organized as well.  The better your organization is, the more you’ll be able to accomplish quickly.  Accomplishing your goals at a comfortable, quick pace will help you feel better, and a positive attitude will help you continue working hard and being as productive as possible.

Don’t let your email ruin your workday.  Everyone has trouble keeping up with their inboxes over the course of the day, but the key is to know when you’re too bogged down, and when it’s okay to give up on trying to keep up with everything for the day.  If you find yourself trapped within the depths of your inbox, try to find the messages that are most pressing, and concentrate on those, leaving the ones that are not as urgent for a later time.  This way you won’t feel trapped, and will be able to keep a positive productivity healthy attitude.

Finally, don’t surf the internet at work.  Reading about stories, or visiting fun websites at work can be bad for your personal morale, as it will remind you that you are stuck at work, even if you do not want to be.  Commit that time at work completely to the job, and focus more on accomplishing your tasks, and taking positives from that.  This way you stay focused, and upbeat about work, not about what else you could be doing with your time.
