11 Aug 11 Online Education – Some Useful Tips to Teach Young Kids Through the Internet

Internet has indeed made life way easier with its blissful presence, making learning and personal development easier and convenient. While it is easy for the learner to grab a power-packed lesson, sitting in front of the computer, it may not be easier for the teacher to deliver lessons on the web. What takes to it be a good online teacher is the topic of discussion here. Here are some useful tips.

Do not bombard with information and suffocate the young minds

Do not forget the medium, it is digital in nature not a physical form; here the recipient has much lesser span of attention and retention level. So do not bombard with information and lessons at a go, stretched for hours. An ideal lesson should not necessarily be more than 20 minutes long at a stretch. If the lesson is too long, you can break it into follow up modules and deliver in the next session. This way learners will pay more attention towards your lectures, will be more interested in it and also wait for the follow up sessions.

Make yourself available and approachable throughout

Internet as a medium is challenged by the fact that it lacks physical contact, proximity and its benefits. Don’t let it come between your relationships with your students. If you make yourself available just for the lessons of 20 minutes and disappear for a whole week, unless you are really famous, there are chances students may forget you or choose someone else over you who are more approachable. So do not commit this mistake. Stay in touch with the students, as much as you would have done in classroom situation. Make yourself approachable and available for any information, clarifications or help by sharing personal contact information like your business telephone number, email address and the like. It will help them to feel confidence and faith in you.

Engage them

It’s important to engage your students. You may throw questions and ask them to mail you the replies or ask for feedback. You may start a thread in a forum or any blog, asking your students to participate actively and comment. Or motivate them to make some interesting video on the topic and upload, while others can put their opinions.

Gear up, let the online lesson be really interesting.

04 Apr 10 Why So Many Freelance Writers Fail?

Many people start their freelance writing career with all gusto, but soon more than 97 percent of them are out of business. Why? What some of them succeed and rest does not? In this blog post, I will attempt to answer that.

Freelance writing is not easy

It indeed is not tough, but it is not easy. To succeed in this, you will have to put in hours and hours of labor every single day, without failing. Then only you will see any result. This is not a field in which you will enter, rake in moola, and leave. This is not a get-rich-quick industry. You have to struggle here, burn midnight oil, and learn continuously. People who fail in this industry, come here with a make-money-quick scheme, and get frustrated when faced with the reality. Writing is not easy, but it will become easier, eventually.

Lack of perseverance

You have to invest so many hours before you get hang of things around here. When you are new, the well may look dark, and the road may look narrower, but there is a wide clearing on the other side that awaits only those who persist. Persistence is the key. Keep fighting. Say this to yourself:

If any one person can do this then be that ME!

Lack of determination is the thing that pushes people away from this writing.

No devotion to learning

If you thought learning stopped the day you got the job, or the day you got the gig then you are in the wrong field. Rather, there is no such field out there in which you will not require to read. Learning is not an event, it is a process which never stops. People who fail are those who do not want to invest time for learning.

I do not believe it is the lack of talent which creates hindrance in the road to the high hills of success. It is the attitude that stops us from that.

If you want to have faith in one thing, have faith on your selection. This will solve half of the problems.

17 Nov 09 Earn More Money From Writing

To earn more money from writing, you have to write more.  Only by making a name for yourself, and putting your work out as much as possible, can you expect to get the high earning jobs.  Write as much content as possible, and find as many outlets as you can for that creativity.  You always need a new site to write for, and the internet is full of great options.  Each one with their own benefits to your career long term.

So obviously the first step to earning more money from your writing, is to write more.  Writing as much as possible is the truest way to get better, and to create enough content .  By writing more, you create more opportunities for yourself, by being more available.  The presence you make online is the most important factor at being a successful writer.  The more renown you have, more jobs will become available, and they will pay higher rates.

Take all the opportunities you can to read others writing.  Especially writing that’s in the same field as yours.  See what the competition is doing, and where the trends are in writing.  By participating in these, and using them to influence your topics and style, you stay current.  Staying current in an ever changing medium on the internet, is paramount. Especially if you hope to be successful.

Write outside your comfort zone to develop your skills.  By writing about topics, or in styles that you’re not familiar with, you grow as a writer.  This way you can use what you’ve learned in your own work.  You’ll be a more solid writer because of it, and your writing will reflect that.  There’s really no better way to find your own unique voice than to attempt everything you can.

Invest in yourself.  This means time and money.  Have faith that your hard work will pay off.  That’s why you are a writer, because you know where it can take you if you work hard.  So keep on going to that end.  You never know how far the road will take you, if you’re too afraid to invest the necessary efforts to get there.
